I decided to pull a card before the holiday season swings into full gear and it made me smile!
It shows a big bunny or hare sat in a cosy little bathroom in his little wooden cottage. He’s not sitting on a chair though, or even a toilet. Instead it’s a bright red bucket!
Next to him is a piping hot drink with little smoke swirls rising up to the ceiling. He looks contented and happy reading his newspaper and it feels like a calming and peaceful place to be.
For extra comfort the bunny has a soft red rug under his feet with two little mushrooms dozing happily within the woollen threads. A wise old tree is growing in the bathroom with his leaves hovering over the bunny like a protective umbrella. He holds a glowing candle on one bough and a toilet roll on the other. Another little creature sits on the paper keeping it warm.
The card is called “sanctuary” and it’s a fitting one to draw before the holiday season.
Perhaps you might find yourself surrounded by people in the next few days and develop a desire to shut yourself away for a bit, like the bunny. Or perhaps feel the need to keep away from the busyness and chaos of world events for a while.
This card says that it’s ok to escape if you wish and take time out. To retreat into your own sanctuary, whether it’s a physical place or even through meditation. Peace can be found within if we look.
This card also acknowledges that if you don’t see many people this week, remember that you aren’t really alone. The bunny has little creatures in his bathroom and doesn’t really notice they are there. He is so absorbed by his newspaper and his own solitude. But we are always surrounded by love, even if we don’t always realise it.
Have a peaceful and happy holiday season.
