Trip to the roof

Have you ever just sat silently with someone watching the world go by? Happy in each others company while life drifts past. This is the image on today’s oracle card.

A hare has wrapped himself up warm in a green coat and hat. His big long ears poke through holes each side of the hat and the coat has a cosy hood that will cover his entire head should the wind start to swirl.

He has made the difficult journey of climbing up the walls of his cottage and past the slippery roof tiles to the very top. It was worth it and he now sits next to the chimney, which is billowing out warm air from the fire below. A little creature friend has joined him.

They rest side by side watching the smoke drift past while the moon shines a light on the world going by beneath their feet. Both creatures are calm and peaceful, content to be together and taking in this unique and uninterrupted view of life.

This card is all about perspective.

It reminds me of the ‘hanged man’ card in tarot where it may not have been comfortable to get into this position, but it gives them a whole different view on things. Perhaps the hare is finding life hard right now and can’t find a way through his problems. Getting away from the busyness of life for a while can help him see it in a new light. Those problems might not seem so large in the grand scheme of things.

This card isn’t telling us to literally climb on the roof! But to try and see things with a different perspective. We might do this by sitting silently on a bench in the park while watching the world go by. Or taking a walk in nature. Or even talking things through with a trusted friend. Something that takes us out of our usual viewpoint.

Who knows what inspiration might come to the hare as he sits in contemplation with his friend, looking at life from a position he hasn’t been in before.
