Shuffling the cards, out popped an image that made me chuckle. It shows a hare sitting in a bucket reading a newspaper! An odd but eye catching scene.
This hare looks like he is in the bathroom, the smallest and cosiest room in his little cottage in the woods. At his side stands a wise old tree who holds a glowing candle for both warmth and light in one hand, and a toilet roll wrapped around the other. His branches and leaves curl above the hare’s head in a protective way.
A cup of steaming hot tea or coffee sits on a little wooden table next to the bucket and above the hare’s head is a small window showing a glimpse of the external world. However, the hare seems happy and content in this warm and snug room, away from the busyness of life outside.
He is not alone. Surrounding him are a few little creatures who are also enjoying the peace and solitude. Two little mushrooms lie fast asleep on the floor on a fluffy red rug and a small beetle rests on the wooden table.
It’s good to have a sanctuary. Somewhere you can escape to for a while when you want to be alone. A place that feels safe and secure where you can have a few minutes of peace and quiet to collect your thoughts.
The hare has locked himself away in the bathroom, but this place of reflection could be anywhere. A favourite bench by some water, a sunny spot in the garden, or even enjoying a soak in the bath.
Like the hare with his animal friends, there may be others around, but he is not concerned as they allow him to sit quietly and don’t bother him. The animals all sit in peaceful contemplation with one another, recharging their batteries before venturing out into the world again.
Where is your place of solitude?
